海外社团 | 都柏林理工大学科幻奇幻协会介绍

2020年2月，高校科幻平台启动了『国际高校科幻社团交流计划』，我们希望通过线上采访的形式，结交国际科幻社团同好，向中国科幻圈介绍国际高校科幻的发展现状，促进彼此之间的深入了解，相信尝试着打开的这扇窗将会为彼此带来更多光亮✨

日语翻译田田老师受平台委托首先向13所日本高校科幻社团发出采访邀请函，并陆续收到了回信（相关回信可查看《海外社团》栏目）。2021年年末，河流向英语地区部分海外高校通过邮件取得联系，接下来，高校科幻平台将陆续刊登这些回信。

尊敬的中国高校科幻社团联盟：

你能找到我们并和我们联系，这让我感到非常惊讶，想必你一定做了很多工作，很荣幸我们社团能成为您检索信息中的一员。

但不幸的是，你们的科幻社团数量远比我们要多，因此我可能帮不上什么忙，或许是学生人数的问题。我们全校一共有12000名学生，这里面接近一半学生都有兼职，很难参加社团活动，或者说很难有日常活动的时间和需求，尤其是社团得在不同的日子举办各种活动，这就更为艰难了，而你们光四川大学就有70000名学生。

我们位于爱尔兰芒斯特省，全称是都柏林理工大学科幻奇幻协会，简称科幻协会，前身是动漫协会，2019年改成科幻协会，而我是社团的现任社长。

我们每年换届一次，假如中途有人退出，那我们会另外投票决定人选；管理成员有9人，社团成员有190人。我们的管理委员会会和社团联合会共同协商每次办活动所需的资金并对活动进行宣传，比如电影之旅和观影会，辩论赛和小型知识竞赛。我们还会使用twitch和discord等虚拟平台来辅助活动顺利开展；特殊活动包括一些讲座、漫画工坊和研讨会议。

在奖项方面，我们在2019年改名后获得了爱尔兰大学社团联合会（Board of Irish College Societies）颁发的最佳新社团奖（BestNew Society）。

我完全同意“纸质书看的人越来越少”这样一个观点，尽管我们有一个很大的动漫书库，一直维持正常运营，但是几乎没有人来看，漫画书似乎没有那么受欢迎了。也正如上文所说，我们的社团比你们还要不活跃一些，这可能是受社团本身性质的一些影响，也很难发掘一些新鲜的活动。

我们现在更多举办线上活动，和其他社团甚至其他大学的社团合作一起举办活动，希望能通过这种方式探寻一些新事物。

我们唯一接触过的科幻社团是柯克国立大学科幻动漫协会（UniversityCollege Cork Sci-Fi and Anime Society），他们就在我们这个城市，我们经常面基合作。除此以外，我们还计划和另外一个校区的科幻协会社长凯瑞（Kerry）合作，由于这个校区不在我们这个城市，所以我们一般只能在线上和他们联系，至于其他地方的科幻协会，我们也没有任何联系。

Hi Chinese University Science FictionSociety Chairperson,

I’m amazed that you were able to find andcontact us, you must be doing a lot of work searching for international ScienceFiction Societies, it’s a pleasure to be included in your search.

Unfortunately I don’t think we can be ofmuch help, you seem to have a lot more activity than we do.

I imagine it’s due to student populationsize, we only have a student population of 12,000 students (half of which arepart-time and thus aren’t allowed to partake in more expensive societyactivities), compared to Sichuan University’s 70,000.

We simply do not have the supply nor demandfor daily activities, especially as different societies tend to have theirweekly events on different days.

3. I am Sci-Fi’s current Chairperson forthe academic year 2021/2022 (our societies have chairpersons instead ofpresidents)

4. Sorry, I don’t understand what you meanby transition cycle, but we hold elections for society committee positions oncea year, or more in the case that someone resigns and we need to fill theirposition.

5. We have 199 Sci-Fi Society members, 9 ofwhich are also committee members.

6. Sorry, we don’t keep record ofmembership changes, I don’t know the number of new recruits.

7. Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean.Committee negotiate funding with the Student Societies Office to financeactivities, such as cinema trips and movie-watching, which Committee have toplan, manage and advertise/publicise, if that’s of any help. We’ve also usedtechnology like Twitch and Discord to host events online.

8. We hold weekly activities, usually moviewatching, but also including debates, quizzes and miscellaneous competitions.

9. Besides the irregular debate, quiz orcompetition, we also host Special Events such as cinema trips, subsidisetickets for relevant conventions, comic book workshops/lectures.

10a. We received an award for Best NewSociety in 2019 after rebranding to Sci-Fi, both in our university and on thenational level at BICS (Board of Irish College Societies).

10b. I share completely your concerns onbooks, in our case comic books, becoming less popular, after rebranding awayfrom Comic Book Society we tried to keep a weekly comic book library going butthere simply wasn’t any interest.

As previously stated our society is evenless active than yours, and covers an even narrower range of activities, Iagree though, that it is difficult to find new things to do, under therestrictions of the society itself.

We are focusing on doing more online eventsand collaborating more with other societies and other universities’ societiesin an attempt to try and do new things.

The only Sci-Fi Society we are in contactwith is University College Cork (UCC) Sci-Fi and Anime Society, which is auniversity in the same city as us, so we collaborate with them mainly inperson.

We also have plans of contacting a Sci-FiSociety from MTU Kerry, which is another campus of our university, but in adifferent city and county, so any collaboration with them would have to befully online.

But nothing outside of either ouruniversity or city, wouldn’t know how to find them.
